Tots Bots Fleece Wraps

These lovely, soft wraps are made from very dense polar fleece (like the fleece used in outdoor clothing) with a double layer in the crotch area, making them slim fitting for a fleece wrap, whilst holding moisture in exceptionally well.
The Tots Bots fleece wraps are Aplix fastening with crossover tabs at the waist. Made in Scotland.

Polyester fleece is not itself waterproof, but dense fleece is water-repellant whilst being very breathable. Because it allows excellent air exchange, wetness from the absorbent nappy inside can evaporate, keeping the nappy area cooler and drying the nappy out to some extent. This, together with the fact that fleece makes a lovely, soft comfortable wrap makes it ideal for night time use. Its hard to believe that these wraps will not leak overnight (it took us about 2 years to try one but I wish we had tried them earlier!). Provided the nappy is absorbent enough most people find they don't leak, although the evaporation can sometimes make clothes feel a little 'steamy' in the morning.

Of course, fleece wraps can also be used during the day, and the eye-catching colours make them ideal for summer "t-shirt and nappy showing off"!

Sizing
Designed with a generous cut, these wraps will fit over most nappies. The Size 0 has a slim cut and is intended for use with boosters, prefolds etc. on a newborn baby, but will not fit over most shaped nappies. For use over shaped nappies on a newborn start with Size 1. Also, if using the Size 2 Tots Bots nappies (without Aplix) from birth you will need the Size 1 wrap from birth. Available in four sizes:
Size 0 Birth - 12lb ( - 5.5kg)
Size 1 Birth/10lb - 20lb (4.5kg - 9.1kg)
Size 2 20lb - 35lb (9.1kg - 15.9kg)
Size 3 30lb + (13.6kg +)

Options
Available in three eye-catching fleeces: the 'Red Rap' (bright red), the Polka Bots wrap (coloured spots on a pale blue background) and the new Rainbow Wrap. The Red Rap is made from a thicker fleece, the Polka Bots is slightly lighter weight, and the Rainbow Wrap is more lightweight still, making it hardly any more bulky than a PUL wrap so a good daytime choice.

Advantages & disadvantages A high-performing fleece wrap. Soft, 'no marks' comfortable fit. Lightweight and quick drying. Aplix fastening only. Water-resistant, not waterproof, but very breathable and allows evaporation. However, if the nappy underneath gets sodden and the baby is sitting or lying in the same position for a long time the pressure can cause wicking through to the clothes (as in a candle-wick, drawing up moisture!). The Rainbow Wrap in particular is very slim fitting for a fleece wrap.
Second hand value Good. A well-known brand.
Care Machine wash at 40ºC with other bright/dark colours for the first few washes in case of colour runs. Washing with cotton nappies causes the fleece to become covered in 'bobbles' of cotton, so wash with synthtics if this bothers you. Hang to dry, do not tumble dry. Dries very quickly, within a few hours in a warm place.
