Motherease Air Flow Wraps (previously known as the Air Rika wrap)

This wrap, along with the Motherease one-size nappy, is probably the best selling reusable nappy system in the UK and Canada! A real 'workhorse' wrap it is highly reliable. It is loose fitting with a high rise (nappy height) and ideally suited for use over shaped nappies. The design of the Air Flow wrap is simple but effective. It fastens with poppers at the leg and at the waist, with three size options at the leg and two at the waist to allow for adjustment as your baby grows. Babies proportions vary enormously, and some may have tubby tums and thin legs and others chubby legs and trim tums. The seperate leg and waist adjustability of the Motherease AirFlow wrap allows for a good fit whatever your baby's shape. The poppers are placed toward the front on the small size and at the sides on the larger sizes.

Appropriately named the Air Flow, this nappy is probably the most 'breathable' PUL wrap available. It has gaps at the sides between the poppers to allow air exchange without leaks. Made from a soft brushed polyester outer side with a polyurethane laminate (PUL) waterproof inner, making this a very lightweight, soft and pliable wrap. The elasticised waist and legs fit snugly but comfortably. Your baby will hardly know she is wearing one! The overall fit of the wrap is loose and baggy, with the leg fastenings coming relatively low down the thigh, but these features are what make it so airy and leakproof. The gap between the nappy and the wrap will decrease the chances of leaks. The design of the Air Flow wrap makes it particularly suitable for toddlers, as the poppers at the side are difficult for little fingers to undo.

The combination of an AirFlow wrap over a Sandys nappy (boosted), Tots Bots (white or unbleached) or a Huggle makes an excellent reliable night nappy.

Sizing
Available in five sizes, though most babies will probably only need three from birth to potty training. The sizes required will depend on the baby's build:
XS 6lb - 12lb (2.7kg - 5.5kg) Covers the same weight range as the small size but with a trimmer cut suitable for a smaller baby*.
Small 6lb - 12lb (2.7kg - 5.5kg)
Medium 10lb - 20lb (4.5kg - 9.1kg)
Medium/Large 20lb - 27lb (9.1kg - 12.3kg) A slimmer cut wrap, but taller in the rise, making it suitable for slimmer babies. However, if cost is an issue you could safely skip this size.
Large from 20lb (for chubbier babies) or 27lb (for slim babies) - 35lb (9.1/12.3kg - 15.9kg)
XL 35lb - 45lb (15.9kg - 20.5kg)

Options
Air Flow wraps are available in white, soft yellow and pastel blue, or four lovely Motherease 'Eco Theme' prints, each depicting a different important wildlife habitat: 'Our Oceans', 'Rainforest', 'Wetlands', 'Savanna' and 'Asia'. Pictures of these prints can been seen here.

Advantages & Disadvantages soft, lightweight and quick drying. Very reliable and durable. Poppers positioned at side make it a good wrap for toddlers. Excellent fit over virtually all shaped nappies. Separate adjustability of the legs and waist to customize fit. Sorry, I can't think of any disadvantages except that is has a slight 'puffball' look when on due to it's generous cut and design which might not be to everyone's taste, but is very trim once under clothes. Good breathability. It may not fit babies with very chunky legs, though you could probably go up a size if the fit is tight at the leg. A wrap of quality and design that has yet to be beaten in terms of reliability (in our opinion)!
Fits over which nappies? All shaped nappies and fastened terry squares. Not suitable for use with prefolds or pad-folded terries.
Second hand value Good. A very well-tested and loved nappy wrap.
Care Machine washable at 40ºC or up to 60ºC. Can be tumble dried on low heat but hang drying will increase longevity. This nappy wrap hang dries very quickly as it is lightweight and contains no absorbent material.

*If you are planning to use a onesize nappy or terry squares we suggest you choose the small wrap rather than the XS.
