Wool nappy covers & wool care accessories
A range of woolen nappy wraps, wool wash, lanolin and lanolin spray.
Wool is the perfect natural material for making nappy wraps. It is soft, highly breathable and has natural water resistance making wool wraps luxurious but highly functional. Wool wraps are ideal for night time, being comfortable and allowing natural heat regulation by allowing evaporation from the nappy. The child's body heat will cause evaporation of wetness from the nappy, taking heat out of the nappy and keeping the nappy area cool. The lanolin in the wool (which needs renewing at intervals) keeps the wool naturally water-resistant, thus keeping clothing and bedding dry. Whilst wool wraps will seem expensive compared to polyurethane laminated or fleece wraps, they have a lot to offer in return.

Caring for wool wraps is quite different to ordinary wraps. There is no need to wash a wool wrap after each use (unless soiled of course), just hang it up during the day and it will lose any smells accumualted during the night. Lanolin wool cure treatment will be needed from time to time, which just involves soaking the cover in a lanolin solution before drying.

We are proud to be able to offer this luxurious range of woollen nappy wraps, shorties, longies and skirts. They are hand-knitted by a Work at Home Mum (WAHM) local to us in North Wales. The wool used is from Blue Faced Leicester sheep reared in the UK and is wonderfully thick and soft. It is hand dyed in the UK too. The result is a beautiful, soft and comfy, completely "home grown", nappy cover. Pure luxury for your little one! As well as making a beautiful nappy covers the shorties, longies and woollen skirts can also be worn as items of outer clothing and make a lovely gift for a baby.

Options
Available as a simple knitted cover (wool soaker, as shown above) which is pulled up over the nappy and can be adjusted with a tie at the waist.

These are also available as "shorties", "longies" or "Flirty Skirties" . These knitted shorts- or long trousers-style or skirt-style nappy wraps are perfect to wear as a nappy cover. They allow air to circulate, wetness to evaporate and the nappy to "breathe" without wicking through onto clothing. They are beautifully soft and comfortable so perfect for pyjama bottoms. Alternatively these attractive hand-knits will coordinate with many outfits and look great as day time clothing too, suitable for all but the warmest weather due to wool's natural temperature-regulating properties.

Soakers, shorties and longies are available in Raspberry (a kind of rich raspberry and blackberry ripple) or Marine (a blend of beautiful sea-blues). Because these woollen clothes are a hand-dyed natural product there may be some variation in the colour from those shown in the pictures.

Flirty Skirties are the perfect way for your little one to show off her cloth bottom this summer! Available is a pretty coral pink.

 

Sizing
As with all nappy covers, sizing will depend on baby's shape. Here are approximate weight guidelines to help you get the right size, as well as measurements at the thigh (measure round the top of your baby's leg), waist and rise (measure baby from front to back where you would expect the wrap to come up to).

Care
Hand wash every few weeks or when soiled and hang to dry. Re-waterproofing the wool fibres will need to be done every so often with a Lanolin Wool treatment. This is fairly simple to do. Click for more information.

Ordering
Please note that these items are handknitted especially for you so please allow an extra five days on top of our usual despatch time (i.e. please allow up to 8 days for despatch plus the time it will take to be delivered to you: 1-2 days in the UK, 3-5 days in Europe). The rest of your order will be despatched as usual and the wool item will follow.

100% Natural vegetable glycerin soap blended with 100% natural liquid lanolin and pure Organic Oils, creating a superior wash for your wool - with absolutely no detergents! This gentle, natural soap will cleanse your woollens without stripping the necessary lanolins, and then adds more in! This wash banishes even the worst "wet sheep" smell from your woollens and is lightly fragranced with a "baby powder" scent. Highly recommended for those expensive, delicate wool covers.

Available in an 8oz (approx. 225ml) Stand-up bottle with a disk top. To use shake well and add 2 tablespoons to a sink full of warm water. Swish around and squeeze and leave for 15 minutes to leave your cover washed, mildly lanolized and freshened.

Finally a lanolin spray to help ease the lanolizing process of your wool products! Spray wool covers to keep them 'topped up' and waterproof. Comes packaged in a 2 1/2oz (approx. 70ml) brushed aluminium misting bottle with a light frangrance of "Fresh Orange Slices". To use shake well, lightly spray your wool, gently pat/work into the wool and leave to dry. Contains: Lanolin, distilled water, grapeseed oil, polysorbate 80 (emulsifier), essential oils.
