A very comfortable and versatile tie around baby carrier

A well established and well loved design of baby carrier, the Wilkinet Baby Carrier adapts to the changing needs of you and your baby. It gently cocoons a tiny 2.5kg (5lbs) newborn, yet is strong enough to carry chunky toddlers! You can use the Wilkinet to carry your baby facing in to your front, facing out on the front, on the hip and on the back.

The Wilkinet was designed to hold the baby in the way a wraparound shawl/sling would, but without the parent being engulfed in wide bands of cloth. With its wide well-padded shoulder straps and unique wraparound method of tying, the Wilkinet ensures the baby is held snugly and firmly with it's weight evenly distributed and with no dragging on your neck, shoulders or back.

The Wilkinet’s unique wraparound method of tying holds the baby onto the parent’s body drawing the baby’s weight to the parent rather than pulling away as can happen with pouch or bag-like baby carriers. In the early weeks when you carry your baby facing in on the front the Wilkinet will cuddle your new baby snugly and firmly, supporting under its bottom and thighs, and providing support for his/her back and head as if being held in your arms.

No rings, zips, clips or buckles so nothing to break and render your Wilkinet useless (one happy user reported using the Wilkinet for herself, friends and family for 10 babies over 12 years!

Available in a choice of fabrics:
Fairtrade organic cotton (chocolate denim and olive)
The sumptuous chocolate brown denim and olive cotton are woven from certified fairtrade organic yarn. The cotton is then dyed and woven to fairtrade standards. Workers are given the opportunity to have consistent, year round work. The above average wages and positive working conditions improve their quality of life and help the people avoid debt.
Soft Cord (aubergine and ivory)
Called soft cord because it is! It is 100% cotton, looks good and washes well.
Cotton Twill (black, navy and redcurrant)
A high quality twill weave cloth and a good choice for hot climates.

Rain Cover
The Wilkinet Showerproof Cape slips over the Wilkinet Baby Carrier to keep your baby dry in wet weather. The new 2009 design fits over the Wilkinet Baby Carrier and any upright carrier, wrap and ring slings. It is gently elasticated to fit snuggly round carrier and baby and fastens to carrier and parent with stretchy straps. It can be used with or without the hood and the cover rolls completely into the hood for storage. The Wilkinet rain cover is made from a navy polyurethane coated Nylon outer and has a white cotton liner.

Sizing
Available in a regular size of with extra long straps for women of size 20 or above or for men with chest size 44" or greater.

Which postion should the baby face?
Baby can be pplaced in a wide range of positions, depending on their age and development.
On front facing In:
from Birth/5lbs/2.26Kgs
to 6 months/15lbs/6.8kgs
On front facing Out:
from 3 months/10lbs/4.5kgs to
9 months/18lbs/8.2kgs
On the hip:
from 5 months/16.5lbs/7.5kgs
to 18 months/25lbs/11kgs
On the back:
from 5 months/16.5lbs/7.5kgs
to 18 months/25lbs/11kgs.

Once you get the hang of putting on the Wilkinet we think you will be hard-pushed to find a more comfy and versatile carrier for you and baby. The Wilkinet comes with instructional leaflet and, should you require further help, there is information on how to obtain a free instructional DVD or view videos online. Care
The Wilkinet Baby carrier is machine washable with care instructions on the label. No buckles to bash around in the machine!
