The sumptuous organic cotton velour nappies from Swaddlebees are now available in a "one-size" design! This nappy will adjust to give a good fit from birth to potty, giving the opportunity for enjoying this premium quality nappy on a budget! It is made from organic cotton velour, an exciting new fabric for making nappies and is designed to maximise absorbency with minimal bulk.

Velour has the advantage over other forms of cotton knit of remaining soft wash after wash, even in hard water areas. Made with two luxurious layers of 100% certified organic cotton velour: a layer on the outside and one on the inside, next to baby's skin. Inside these layers is a hidden third layer of hemp jersey and a hidden sewn-in soaker layer of hemp french terry. Hemp fabric is used to boost absorbency without adding bulk, as it is more absorbent than cotton. It also has anti-microbial properties.

The nappy comes with two booster pads to increase absorbency whilst keeping the nappy as quick drying as possible. There is as attached 'flap-out' booster composed of two layers of hemp french terry and topped with another layer of soft organic cotton velour. There is also a 'popper in' removable booster that can be used when the nappy is on its largest setting or used as a tiny shaped nappy for a premature or newborn baby (see teddy below!).

This nappy therefore has up to nine layers of absorbent fabric in the areas it is most needed. However, because three of these layers are in the flap-out booster and a further three in a removable booster, Swaddlebees One-Size Organic Velour nappies do not take excessively long to dry.

This nappy has the characteristic trim cut of the Swaddlebees brand, being narrow across the crotch and high-cut at the leg to suit slim or chubby thighs equally well. Gentle elastic at the front and back and around the leg openings ensure against leaks and they give a close but comfortable fit. The nappy fastens with two poppers on each side, allowing separate adjustment of the waist and leg. Fastening at the side gives the nappy a slim profile and makes it difficult for toddlers to undo their nappy! It can also be pulled up and down without unfastening.

Sizing
Swaddlebees One Size Organic Cotton Velour shaped nappies are available in one size, to fit most babies from birth to potty training.

Please note that the nappy comes complete with its own snap-in booster so there is no need to purchase this separately. For newborn or premature babies this shaped booster pad can be used with a Nappi Nippa, and this is a useful way to double up the number of nappies you have in the first few weeks when babies tend to get through lots of nappies.

	There are three setting to adjust the rise (height) of the nappy. For the largest height setting don't popper down the nappy.
	For the small and medium settings fold the front of the nappy and fasten the poppers at the desired setting.This exposes a new set of waist poppers on the inside of the nappy. The picture shows the nappy about to be fastened on the medium height setting.
	Fasten the right wing to these new poppers and then the left wing. The left wing can be crossed over the right to make the waist even smaller.

 

Options

Swaddlebees Organic Cotton Velour nappies are available in a choice of natural unbleached organic cotton velour or five beautiful colours: periwinkle, sage, butter, peach, rose. The coloured nappies have just the outer layer dyed with low-impact, environmentally friendly dyes, and all inner layers and those next to the baby's skin are undyed. The coloured nappies are colourfast and can be washed together with white nappies without colour-run.

Advantages & disadvantages compared with other shaped nappies The designer of this nappy really has thought of everything! The range of sizing is good for a one-size nappy, and it offers a good balance between absorbency and trimness of fit. Absorbency is customizable and, whilst not super-quick drying like pocket nappies, drying time isn't bad for natural fabrics and the amount of absorbency offered. The one-size option offers a more affordable way to enjoy this lovely fabric and design. Only soft organic velour, that stays soft with repeated washing, touches baby's skin. On the smaller settings this one-size nappy is a little more bulky than buying the multi-sized Swaddlebees Organic Cotton Velour nappies, though is still trim for a one-size nappy.
What else will I need? With this nappy you may choose to use liners, either disposable or reusable (e.g. fleece), though they are not necessary, and you may prefer to have soft velour against baby's skin. For night time use you will probably need to use boosters - pop any booster or a Swaddlebees pocket nappy insert under the flap-out booster.

Resale value Unknown as yet, expected to be high.
Care Machine wash at 40ºC (or up to 60ºC) and hang or tumble dry on medium heat. The colours are colourfast at 60ºC and can be washed with white nappies. We recommend that these nappies are dry-pailed, as soaking can cause colour changes and smell problems. Pre-wash once before use and expect absorbency to increase for a few washes.
