Shaped, multi-sized organic cotton velour nappy. Price was £16.00 now £9.60.
This really is a sumptuous, premium quality nappy. It is made from organic cotton velour, an exciting new fabric for making nappies and is designed to maximise absorbency with minimal bulk.

Cotton velour has the advantage over other forms of cotton knit of remaining soft wash after wash, even in hard water areas. Made with two luxurious layers of 100% certified organic cotton velour: a layer on the outside and one on the inside, next to baby's skin. Inside these layers is a hidden third layer of hemp jersey and a hidden sewn-in soaker layer of hemp french terry. Hemp fabric is used to boost absorbency without adding bulk as it is more absorbent than cotton and has anti-microbial properties. Further absorbency is added by an attached 'flap-out' booster composed of two layers of hemp french terry and topped with another layer of soft organic cotton velour.

The nappy has a total of seven layers of absorbent fabric in the area it is most needed. However, as three of these layers are in the flap-out booster Swaddlebees Organic Velour nappies do not take excessively long to dry. The booster can be folded according to where the child needs most absorbency (underneath or to the back for a girl and more to the front for a boy).

This nappy benefits from a similar cut to Swaddlebees pocket nappies. It is narrow across the crotch to reduce the bulk between baby’s legs. The leg openings are high-cut, meaning that the nappy suits babies with slim or chubby thighs equally well. Gentle elastic at the front and back and around the leg openings ensure nothing escapes and they give a close but comfortable fit. The nappy fastens with two poppers on each side, allowing separate adjustment of the waist and leg. Fastening at the side gives the nappy a slim profile and makes it difficult for toddlers to undo their nappy. This nappy can be pulled up and down, making it particularly suitable for potty training toddlers.

Sizing
Swaddlebees Organic Cotton Velour nappies are available in three sizes to last from birth to potty. The approximate weight guidleines for the sizes are:
Small 8lb - 14lb (3.6Kg - 6.4Kg)
Medium 12lb - 25lb (5.5Kg - 11.4Kg)
Large 22lb - 40lb (10Kg - 18.2Kg)

This nappy is also available in a supertrim 'Newborn' size to fit from approx. 5 -14lb (2.3 - 6.4Kg) depending on baby's shape (the small size could be missed out if you choose the newborn size). It has an outer and inner layer of 100% organic cotton velour with a hidden layer of hemp french terry. There is an attached 'flap out' booster of one layer of hemp french terry topped with organic cotton velour. Suitable right from birth, the front of nappy poppers down to leave baby's umbilical cord area to free from the nappy and able to breathe. Absolutely gorgeous supersoft first nappy!

Options
Swaddlebees Organic Cotton Velour nappies are available in a choice of natural unbleached cotton velour or five beautiful colours as above from top left clockwise: periwinkle, butter, rose, peach and sage. The coloured nappies have just the outer layer dyed with low-impact environmentally friendly dyes, and all inner layers and those next to the baby's skin are undyed. They are colourfast and can be washed together with white nappies without colour-run.

Advantages & disadvantages compared with other shaped nappies A luxurious, absorbent and reliable nappy. Will fit a wide range of baby shapes well. Very trim fitting and unrestricting for baby, yet suitable for heavier wetters. The organic cotton velour fabric will stay soft with repeated washing. Slower drying than some shaped nappies, but drying speed is good for the level of absorbency offered. A relatively expensive option.
What else will I need? With this nappy you may choose to use liners, either disposable or reusable (e.g. fleece), though they are not necessary. For night time use you will probably need to use boosters - pop any booster or a Swaddlebees hemp booster or pocket nappy insert under the flap-out booster.

Resale value High.
Care Machine wash at 40ºC (or up to 60ºC) and hang or tumble dry on medium heat. Colourfast at 60ºC and can be washed with white nappies. We recommend that these nappies are dry-pailed, as soaking can cause colour changes. Pre-wash once before use and expect absorbency to increase for a few washes. Click for more care information.
