Nappies
How many pocket nappies will I need?
The number of pocket nappies you will need depends upon
the age of your baby and how often you intend to wash your nappies.
Newborns may need to a nappy change up to 10 times a day! As the baby
gets a little older this will reduce to 6-8 times whereas an older toddler
may only need 4-5 nappy changes a day.
Most babies will require three sizes
of pocket nappies from birth to potty (small, medium and large). Based
on this 10 small, 7 medium and 7 large each day will be ample for most
babies.
Pocket nappies dry very quickly
so you probably won't need as many nappies as you would need shaped
nappies or all-in-ones. Because the inserts take
longer it may be worth having some extra inserts to use whilst others
are drying. Pocket nappies can also be washed with other laundry
at 40ºC or 60ºC, so it is possible to wash the nappies daily
and hang them in a warm place to dry ready for the next day. This way
you will only need enough nappies for one day. However, you may find
it more convenient to have enough for two days and do a 'just nappies'
wash every two days.
It is also worth bearing in mind
that the large size of pocket nappies will probably fit far longer than
the small and medium sizes, and so will get more wear than the smaller
nappies.
