Stay-dry, multi-sized pocket nappy - Fuzzi Bunz were the original pocket nappies and have become very popular. They were designed by a mother whose son was allergic to urine next to his skin to keep him dry and comfortable.
Fuzzi Bunz nappies have a soft, stretchy, waterproof outer material (PUL) that keeps wetness and mess inside. Next to the baby's skin is a layer of soft micro-fleece which allows moisture to pass through, away from the baby, and then dries quickly. In the pocket formed between these layers an absorbent insert is placed to soak up the wetness. The insert inside the Fuzzi Bunz pocket becomes wet, but is not in contact with the baby's skin, helping to keep it dry. Pocket nappies are very versatile and the level of absorbency can be easily adjusted to suit baby and the occasion. Fuzzi Bunz can also be used as an outer wrap over a two-part nappy if required. See below for pictures of babies in their Fuzzi Bunz.
Fuzzi Bunz are currently available in Small, Medium and Large to enable you to get a perfect fit as your baby grows. Most babies will fit the small size at birth. Smaller or petite toddlers may not require the large size before daytime potty training. Click for tips on fitting your Fuzzi Bunz. There is a also a one-size version of the Fuzzi Bunz nappy. A highly popular, pocket nappy. Remains one of the easiest and most reliable nappy systems we have come across.
Advantages and disadvantages
of Fuzzi Bunz over other pocket nappies: lightweight and quick drying. Good adjustability and neat fit. Soft fleece inner that doesn't stain. Multisized, so you will need to purchase several sizes as you baby grows. Comes complete with own microterry insert which will suit light-moderate wetters. To make the nappy last for longer periods or for heavier wetters you will probably need an additional insert or booster (see below for recommendations).
What else will I need?
No liners or waterproof wraps are needed with these nappies, though you can use flushable liners if required. The nappies are supplied with inserts, but you for medium to heavy wetters you may need to purchase additional nappy inserts or boosters.
Our three layer microterry inserts, Blueberry "Combo" inserts, hemp or microterry one-size inserts from Green Acre Design or Superbamboo work well. Have a look at our pocket nappy inserts page for more information.
CareWash at 40ºC (or up to 60ºC if heavily soiled) and hang to dry or tumble dry on low heat setting. Click for more information on how to care for you Fuzzi Bunz nappies
