*New* Bumgenius V4
Stay-dry, one-size pocket nappy. Price £15.99
BumGenius
nappies have become a popular choice in recent years. They are highly
adjustable, and give a neat fit from birth to potty training (approx.
8lb - 35lb/3.6kg - 15.9kg).
BumGenius one-size have a built in waterproof outer cover and an inner
lining, which form a pocket. The outer PUL cover keeps wetness and moisture
in, whilst the inner lining is made from suedecloth (a soft polyester
knitted fabric) and helps to keep baby's skin dry and comfy. At the
back of the pocket there is an opening into which absorbent pads (supplied
with the nappies) are placed. The level of absorbency can therefore
be customised to suit the baby and the occasion.
Stretchy
lycra wings make the bumGenius nappy unique among pocket nappies. They
enable the nappy to be pulled close all around baby, and this ensures
a really neat fit. Bumgenius V4 fasten either with hook and loop or
poppers. The hook and loop version has laundry taps to fasten the tabs
to reduce the hooks catching in the wash.
The
size of the nappy can be easily adjusted through a system of poppers
on the front of the nappy. The height of the nappy is shortened using
three columns of snaps to enable it to fit small babies from 7lbs. BumGenius
nappies have a slim elasticated leg casing and are elasticated at the
back to keep everything in.
The bumGenius V4 is the latest version of this nappy, and the new features
include a more generous sized fitting to enable the nappy to give a
better fit at the higher end of the weight range.
Sizing
These nappies come in just one size and are so adjustable that you can
get a good fit for the majority of babies most of the time from around
8-35lb.
Options
As already mentioned, you can choose to have your bumGenius with a hook
and loop or poppers fastening. There are advantages to each type. The
hook and loop are very quick and simple to fasten, and are a good for
nurseries or those who are used to disposables. However, some people
find they reduce the nappy's durability due to the hook and loop wearing
out and snagging the outer layer. Hook and loop fastenings can also
be easily removed by toddlers if they get a taste for freedom! Poppers/snap
fastenings take a few seconds more to fasten and are slightly less straight-forward
for those unused to cloth nappies, but without the disadvantages mentioned
above.
The bumGenius one-size pocket nappy is available in a range of
attractive colours: Blossom, Bubble, Butternut, Grasshopper, Noodle,
Sweet, Twilight, White. Please have a look at our order
bumGenius v4 page for more information.

Summary: a popular,
trim-fitting one-size nappy
Advantages & disadvantages of
bumGenius V4 over other one-size nappies. One-size-fits-most and works
out as an economical choice. Lightweight and quick drying. Good adjustability
and very neat fit. Choice of poppers or hook and loop fastenings. As
with all one-size nappies, bumGenius may be outgrown sooner than potty
training on larger or stocky toddlers.
Suggested inserts The bumGenius V4
comes complete with two microterry inserts. Boosters will not usually
be required for day time use. Some babies may require additional absorbency
for night times. We recommend you use a microterry insert (supplied)
with a hemp or cotton insert underneath such as the hemp
Green Acre design insert.
What else will I need? Nothing else
is essential to use this system, though flushable liners can make solids
disposal easier and it will be helpful to have a tight-sealing bucket
or bag to store the nappies in.
Second hand value High.
Care Ensure laundry tabs are fastened
on the hook and loop version Bumgenius. Machine wash at 40ºC (or
up to 60ºC if required). Hang to dry or tumble dried on low heat
if prefered. Do not use greasy rash cream.
