Appropriately known as "Teddy nappies" these nappies are made from very soft, strokable and squishy microfibre terry, similar to that used on toy teddies! Microterry is a synthetic fabric made from 100% polyester and has the advantages of being lightweight and highly absorbent. Microterry absorbs liquid between the fibres, rather than into the fibres themselves as with natural fibres, and this means that liquid is soaked up extremely quickly and is mostly removed by spinning in the washing machine so it will hang to dry very quickly. Being synthetic the fabric does not become rough or hard when wet or even when washed in hard water, and has antibacterial properties.

The Bambinex Teddy nappy is made with two layers of medium pile fluffy microterry all over. Each nappy is supplied with a separate booster pad with two layers of fluffy microterry and a top layer of shorter-pile, velour fabric which makes it easier to remove solids.

Bambinex Teddies have long 'wings' or tabs with an overlapping hook and loop fastening system (like velcro or aplix), allowing adjustment over a wide range of waist sizes. The wings can be folded in and fastened to laundry tabs to help to prevent the hook and loop fastening sticking in the washing. The nappies have elastic at the back and around the leg openings to keep everything inside.

An outer nappy wrap will be required with this nappy (see below for suggestions).

Bambinex Teddy Nappies are available in white and a range of attractive colours : soft pink, soft blue, Papaya (soft green), and aqua. They are currently available with a hook and loop fastening.

Sizing
Teddy nappies are available in two sizes: Size 1 6-22lb (2.7-10Kg)
Size 2 20-35lb (9.1-15.9Kg)
Teddies can be used simply as a two-size nappy system. For smaller newborns the Size 1 nappy can be folded down at the waist (front panel folded over the fastened wings to make the nappy shorter). The Size 2 can also be used to last from birth to potty by folding over the front panel in a similar manner, though this will be quite bulky on a baby under 10lb. Because the booster is detachable it can be removed for when the nappy is at its smallest size, reducing the bulk of the nappy for smaller or lighter wetting babies.

Advantages & disadvantages compared with other shaped nappies Made from synthetic microterry fabric, with its excellent quick-drying, lightweight and high absorbency properties. These nappies will dry quickly naturally if hung in a suitable place. Easy to boost for night time. The microterry feels soft and fluffy to the touch and the nappies give a reasonably trim fit and neat look. Teddies stay soft no matter what you do (unless you melt them!). There is also the choice of using Bambinex Teddies as a two-size or a birth to potty nappy, though we recommend it is used as a two-sized system to avoid excessive bulk at the newborn/first few months stage.
What else will I need? With Teddy nappies you may choose to use disposable liners and/or separate reusable fleece liners to make solid waste disposal easier. Teddies will probably need additional boosters for overnight. Any boosters are suitable, but if you want to stick with microterry we can recommend microterry pocket nappy inserts or boosters. You will need outer covers/wraps.
Suggested wraps The Tots Bots PUL wraps fit beautifully, as do the Tots Bots fleece wraps, which we recommend for night time. Others that work well are the Mother-ease Rikki or Air Flow and Nature Babies Classic Covers or Swaddlebess ABC wraps.
