Bambineo nappies

Bamboo is a very 'green' crop as it has a very short growth cycle and is easily cultivated without the use of chemical pesticides. (Click for more information on why choose eco-friendly fibres.) Bamboo terry is very soft, feeling just like silk against the skin when new. This silky texture is lost a little through washing, but the fabric remains soft compared with cotton terry. Bamboo terry also has natural antibacterial properties and is more absorbent than cotton terry.

Bambineo nappies are made from two full layers of bamboo terry with additional absorbency between the legs, where it is needed most. The nappy comes complete with an additional three-layer booster which is not attached to the nappy so can be placed where required or not used if the nappy needs to made to be made trimmer for smaller babies. The nappy is reasonably high in the rise so suitable for taller toddlers and the 'wings' can be crossed over at the front for slimmer waists. It has elastic around the legs and at the back to give a snug fit and prevent leaks.

Sizing
Bambineos are available in two sizes. The approximate weight guidelines for the sizes are:
Size 1 8lb - 18lb (3.6Kg - 8.2Kg)
Size 2 18lb - 35lb (8.2Kg - 15.9Kg)
Bambineos can be used either as a multi-sized nappy or the size 2 nappy nippa version can be used as a birth to potty nappy (see below).

Options
Bambineo nappies are available in natural cream colour in Size 1. In Size 2 they are available in cream, soft blue, soft pink or soft green. They are available with either a hook and loop fastening (like Velcro) of with no fastening so that a nappy nippa can be used. The front of the size 2 nippa-fastening nappy can be folded down to make the nappy fit from approximately 10lb (4.5Kg), giving a 'birth to potty' option that will fit many babies from birth through to potty training.

Advantages & disadvantages compared with other shaped nappies
A slim and absorbent nappy with the advantages of bamboo terry fabric: natural antibacterial properties, eco-friendly fabric, stays softer than cotton or hemp in hard water areas or with repeated washing. Bambineo nappies take a relatively long time to dry.
What else will I need? With this nappy you may choose to use flushable or fleece liners to make solid waste disposal easier and reduce soiling of the nappy. If you choose the nappi nippa fastening version of this nappy you will need Nappi Nippas. You will need boosters for overnight and possibly as your baby gets bigger wets more heavily. Any of our boosters are suitable. You will need a waterproof outer cover/wrap with this nappy.
Suggested wraps The Tots Bots PUL wraps fit well, as do the Tots Bots fleece wraps, which we recommend for night time. Others that will work well are the Mother-ease Rikki or Air Flow and Nature Babies Classic Covers.
Resale value Relatively new nappy so unknown.
